Canary Islands ON Adventure

We are setting sail SOON in the Canary Islands 🙃 for an Ocean Skillbuilding and Sailboat Lifestyle Adventure.

This is THE BEST opportunity we currently have to expand knowledge and experience of life at sea, level up skills and confidence at sea and in the outdoors, ocean sailing, fulltime nomadic living, and share adventure time with fellow Ocean Nomads. And, bananas and sunshine! All skill levels welcome.

Dates: 21-28 March, 2026
Departure: Tenerife (St. Cruz)

Vessel: 43 ft monohull (with battened mainsail)

This is THE opportunity to deepen connections with the Ocean Nomads family (in real life), get in some real ocean sailing experience, accelerate and enhance your ocean-nomad lifestyle, and experience the beautiful sunny Canary Islands and all that comes with it, together!

Or maybe you simply want to dip your toes into this wild lifestyle living with the ocean. We make sure we hit a nice trail and explore wild places below the surface and on the volcano.

Some of us on board are getting ready for their own boat or Yachtmaster so we work on the captain skills too. We're a small group so we can cater for individual wishes.

The best part of this opportunity though is the people you’ll sail with. We are a special mix of nomads living life differently, by sail, van or foot. We have Poland, Sweden, Netherlands, American, Danish and Greek Crew presente!

What we have in common is a big heart for nature and a decision to not settle and instead explore the world 🌍 lots of stories, learnings and connections to share and gain.

We're proud and excited to have these ocean nomad legends run this trip! Decades of lived adventure, expedition and outdoor lifestyle experience by sail, van and foot.

Thomas van Thiel 🇳🇱⛵👨‍✈ A born and raised sailor, ocean activist, and passionate instructor. With more than 50,000 nautical miles of offshore sailing experience, he has a wealth of wisdom on offshore navigation, seamanship, and world sailing. He's a boatowner (Steel Ketch) and with his vessel support captain of the Kitesurf across the Atlantic Mission, this may be the last opportunity to sail with our Tomaatje before he sets of on his world expedition. ​ ​Intro Thomas (30 sec.)​ ​

Jonatan Bjorkman 🇸🇪🏕️🥾 An experienced outdoor adventurer and storyteller with over 10,000+ km. of long-distance hiking across islands and countries, like the PCT, Appalachian Trail and + 500 wild camp nights. Van is the home, kite and ski instructor, freedive fanatic and training for his yachtmaster. You’ll find him guiding, sharing (hilarious) adventure stories, and making sure you'll try something new and get a big splash of ideas and belief for a life lived differently. ​Intro Jonatan (3 min.) ​

SALTY SADDLES - Horseback Riding + Surfing Adventure Week

​Ocean Nomads + Bonanza the land are joining forces for our first ever surf, horseback riding and sailing adventure!

Ocean Nomads' own Brianna and Carine are so happy to team up and host you on this adventure!

Bonanza the land is a horseback riding and nature retreat experience in Northern Portugal. Located in the area of the Aveiro Lagoon (Ria de Aveiro), their horseback riding tours offer a rare opportunity to ride along empty beaches and through peaceful forests and rolling dunes. The guided rides take you through some of the most stunning landscapes on the North Portuguese coast, offering a unique opportunity to reconnect with nature for both beginner and experienced riders.

While many of us are here dreaming or planning for an Ocean crossing by sail, Koen is preparing for something that has never been done: 3,000 nautical miles across open water by kite!

When Koen Darras reached out to Ocean Nomads with his bold Atlantic Crossing kite mission with a bigger ocean impact message, and a call for support, we knew we had to help move it forward.

This is exactly why we started Ocean Nomads: to connect people to each other and to the ocean, and to support adventures and lifestyles rooted in mission and nature.

We are proud to have long term ON ambassador and Captain Thomas be the support vessel for this mission.
