Why take a plane? Guido crossed at 68
Land ahoy!
Guido had a family wedding in the Americas. "And since I'm a young pensioner, I said, "Why take a plane?" It doesn't make sense to take a plane. I really want to sail to America. The second reason was it's adventurous to go on the ocean. 70% of all our earth it's just water. And I've never, ever traveled the waters as I do now. "
Open crew calls and opportunities from the Ocean Nomads network this autumn and winter: the Canaries, an electric Atlantic crossing, a Dutch boat refit, tall ship jobs and more.

Atlantic Circle
β
Upcoming winter we're teaming up again with SV Twister π the 1902 schooner from our 2022/2023 Atlantic expedition sets sail from Amsterdam in six weeks for a full circle around the Atlantic: 9,250 nautical miles, eight legs. A very special and unique opportunity to sail between countries with adventure, impact & community.
Applications have been rolling in all summer and the crew for the first legs is taking shape. Some legs still have berths. What we have in common is a big heart for nature and a decision to not settle and instead explore the world π lots of stories, learnings and connections to share and gain.
Where it stands: the first crew are confirmed and the crossing is filling up fast. Wow, only 6 more week until we leave!
This can be your home:

A few years ago sailed around the Atlantic. We got seasick, baked bread, swam in 5,000 metres of water, took the 4am watches, lived and laughed a lot. With Twister leaving again soon and many of you considering jumping on board, the full documentary on our YouTube channel is a great preview of what a crossing and life on board is like on an Ocean Nomads offshore ocean adventure.

I am still on Tenerife thinking back to this blissful journey that we had on SV Twister from Amsterdam to here every day. Thank you so much, once again, for making this happen - describing in detail how much positive impact this trip and the people I got to meet on it have had on me since would definitely exceed the framework." Provisioning Tips & Tools
10 ways to provision for a healthy ocean and a healthy you
β
Food is one of the biggest happiness and health factors on any sailing trip. Whether weβre provisioning for an Atlantic crossing, a coastal trip or a weekend sail, as an ocean loving community, we try to make our food choices work for both a healthy crew and ocean.
Provisioning a passage from scratch is quite a project: how much of everything, what lasts, where to shop, what to cook. We've done it over +30 trips. And hundreds of passages with all members togehter. We've united everything we learned in one place in the Ocean Nomads Member Hub:
a provisioning sheet and calculator to know exactly how much and what to buy
What to buy that lasts, is healthy, and keeps the spirit high.
Recipes the crew actually cooked (on an angle ;))
Healthy and low-waste choices that survive a passage
Provisioning map with organic shops, farms and markets around the Atlantic

Early September a whole bunch of Ocean Nomads came from far corners to meet in person on SV Windfall in Almere, just before Thomas takes her south for the start of his far-north project and the kitesurf mission support. We talked solo passages and boat projects, heard the plans for the Atlantic kite crossing, and ate a table full of food made from scratch. Read what happens when ocean nomads meet in real life.
"A meeting like this gives me so much strength to keep pursuing my dream. When I hear about your experiences, I feel again that I'm not alone in being crazy enough to have big dreams. Thank you Thomas for hosting in your oh-so-busy schedule! Hope to see you all over New Year's on Mindelo, Cape Verde!" Menno
Cape Verde Meet-Up π¨π»

ON gathering & New Year in Cape Verde. A whole bunch of us will be sailing in from the Canaries, another Ocean Nomads group sails out of Mindelo on SV Twister, together with Koen and Thomas for the Atlantic Kitesurf mission. This will probably be the biggest gathering of Ocean Nomads so far. Who'll be there :)?
